and I guess the obstacle course, is racing for the phone.
I spent all day on K.P.,no Mom thats not a girl,
its only kitchen duty, where the food can make you hurl.
We clean our guns, polish boots, do push ups out the ---,
tomorrow they'll be sticking us, in a chamber full of gas.
The only clothes here mom, are a drab old army green,
my heads bald, no more hair, just an ugly sheen.
We climbed our tower, walked our walk, guess we got it right,
now i'm on firewatch, but theres not a fire in sight.
Oh mom, i've been hearing things, its got to be a scam,
Because You never told me, that I had an Uncle Sam!
Well its time for lights out, so Mom I better go,
you don't know my Sargent, or the awful fit he'll throw.
So goodbye from South Carolina, from you're loving Son,
i'll be home soon, you can bet, when my hitch is done.

This was written as a joke for a friend of mine going through boot camp to send to his mom to give her a laugh and ease her worries.
With all thats happening in our world today a little humor can go along way. No insult was meant for any branch of our Brave Armed Forces, God less them all.
