Morning Sun

When the darkness
Closed around me,
That was all
That I could see.
I couldn't see
The bright warm
Sunshine,
Nor the swinging
Dancing trees.
The blackness
Held me,
Fierce and harshly,
In its arms,
So big and strong.
And it shook me
With such violence,
As it sang
Its dreary song.
Then the early
Morning sunshine,
Shone so gently
In my room.
The blackness stopped
Its violent rocking,
And withdrew
Its arms of gloom.
I looked towards
The curtained window,
Smiled towards
The morning sun.
I knew at last
The night was over,
Another day
Had just begun.
