CarpetThreads of a carpet under my shoes Woven from many colourful hues Shapes and patterns of myriad style I'll just sit and gaze for a while Consider the orange phasing into red Blues, green and purples An outline of orange with an edge of yellow Pictures of leaves and trees of willow Flowers of variety too numerous to name Bordered edges, each side the same A central panel of vibrant hue Must have taken them hours to do All these things in just one small rug Latched with wool and a quick sharp tug Each strand lovingly put into its space So I can have my carpet by the fireplace! 23rd august 2004 jayc Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
