View From My Window

Does Daylight Deepen In Evening?

Does daylight deepen in evening?  Does light
tell you what courage we have lost?
We've the same pleasantries this morning walked
the air of space; gone, gone the old ways we could
not accept, gone the darkness of an evening star

as it exhausts the sad hours of yawning silver caverns.
The conversation of a song in anguish sprung from
the lowly mosses of Autumn's banks.  In the fiery
scarlet of winter's dew, the ghost of warriors foresaw

my scarlet words, wrapped in daylight sprung anew.
There is the river I once sat by, spinning sad
tales of sorrow and woe; youths filled with the splendor
of children's delight, they look at the world as it once
was, the wind spirals by with unseen hands.  I wonder if

Nature is ever reflected in the glory of a spreading
oak, where the pains we've reflected have seized;
the divided pages of evening dwell in the
lowest branches of our youth, and the books always
know, the pages, not the words,
reflect the size of its magnificence.
