I am gazing at the stars that twinkle
like the jewels of your eyes
and I sit and stare and look
at the new moon
gorgeous
how the ocean's waves
wave at me, bending back
and forth in rhythm to
einstein's theory of gravity
which I think is relative anyhow
I think of how you would
look tonight if you were here
we'd stare at the new moon,
a pale face,
until all time stopped and there
was nothing left but infinity
to move us forward,
nothing but the universe
to hold us back.
