A Poem For Remembrance Of
The world has toppled backwards
on its back like an amphibian sea turtle
lost out at sea. It has not seen
  land for     miles.
  Where   is the rescue     boat?
I forgot
    to     bring
the suntan lotion.
Scream at the infidel chickens
churning on the water they can't
seem to get
it through their heads
that we (they) are not here anymore.
not just anywhere, but at the top of
the world, looking down
at our small
village,
looking down into the water of
          ourselves.
  Don't dry
your tears. The sea gulls are gone,
I have always
      been   missing   anyway,
the sun was just
shining in my eyes.
on its back like an amphibian sea turtle
lost out at sea. It has not seen
  land for     miles.
  Where   is the rescue     boat?
I forgot
    to     bring
the suntan lotion.
Scream at the infidel chickens
churning on the water they can't
seem to get
it through their heads
that we (they) are not here anymore.
not just anywhere, but at the top of
the world, looking down
at our small
village,
looking down into the water of
          ourselves.
  Don't dry
your tears. The sea gulls are gone,
I have always
      been   missing   anyway,
the sun was just
shining in my eyes.
