View From My Window
Senior Citizen's Day
walk on your back,
it will pass the time
disregard the garden blooming
with wisteria and gardenias
and forget-me-nots
i am in the prime of my life;
i am an old woman,
who has to take out her teeth
every night and keep them
in a cup of water by my bedside
once, i couldn't find my teeth and
had to eat applesauce
for three days straight-carlito,
my 27-year-old son,
finally found my teeth
underneath a chair in the bingo room
the last winner of the bingo match
died during snack time-it was Thursday,
they were serving apple crumb cake after
lunch.
it will pass the time
disregard the garden blooming
with wisteria and gardenias
and forget-me-nots
i am in the prime of my life;
i am an old woman,
who has to take out her teeth
every night and keep them
in a cup of water by my bedside
once, i couldn't find my teeth and
had to eat applesauce
for three days straight-carlito,
my 27-year-old son,
finally found my teeth
underneath a chair in the bingo room
the last winner of the bingo match
died during snack time-it was Thursday,
they were serving apple crumb cake after
lunch.
