Her Side, His Side And The Truth

(the octagon of abuse)

destitute of light
spidery lines that cover her sight
she looks up from an inverted telescope
circular pink
envelopes her
suffocating coma
leaves hands 'round her throat
starts to choke
as she sees him and he sees her
and her silent tears
of lifeless self pity
left there bleeding
no other words best describes
what he sees
as she struggles to breath
should he leave her there?
trembling and scared
he wants to show her
he really does care.
why does she have to make him so mad?
then make him so sad..
and how can he know how to handle
his horrible guilt?
look what she made him do
she tore away everything they'd built.
he sees her looking up at him
one eye swelling shut.
a scream just rips from her gut
leave me be! go away!
he wonders why she stays?
or why she won't stay down
it'll all be better
if she'd stay on the ground.
we watch her and don't understand
why won't she just leave this man?
if she's being so hurt
this supposedly innocent lamb?
another room
another night
encompassing blue
she, he, me and you
watch or listen
to another horrific fight.
taken from a watchers point of view
or from him or hers
or the children who are left
with permanant psychic burrs.
no more loss
of distinguishable colors
as all of us hide under the covers
lost in that rubber room
that one day, one of us
won't bounce back from.
