A Poem For Someone

I know some people have
frowned upon your strange
ways, but you hold to them as if
you were holding the sun.
And maybe you are.
Maybe you were born to shine
for the rest of the world, which
seems to have grown
quite dim and dark.

I know you've been sad since the
war started, since the world
became chaotic and you
did not know right from left or
up from down,
but yes, I believe I could still
see your rays even through
the deepest dark,
and that helped me go on.
