This Morning's Coffee

I cannot be found today

My mind's eye lost
In our small moments
Of beautiful night
That was yesterday

Slipped away, stripped
As the sheets are pulled back
From your bed and I rise
To the stark reality of this light

This cold morning
Roaming around
Feeling my way blind, in your clothes
That hold your colors of scent
Mingled with mine from the dark

Formed in those few precious hours
When I was yours
Fighting this waking
That brings me you no more

This end brought to me
With a cup of coffee
Swirled with cream
Last night's sweetened lies
And brown sugared
Betraying eyes
Now that dawn has arrived
Speak covertly of goodbye
