Calm, still be the land darkening now
Early this night beset with shadow
Birds and squirrels formerly present
Have flash fled in hasty ascent.
All quiet now this piece of earth
People huddled near their hearth
In rooms without panes of glass
These folks have assembled mass.
This cursed beast then comes hither
Coiling upwards as it does slither
Torn asunder trees fly like crows
Impacting ground in deep rows.
Creature, strong, just made of wind
No entrails, hollow all within
What spawned this serpent of forces gale
That swims the planet without a sail?
Pleading, praying for its kindness
Its errant path seems so mindless
Closer comes this conical cloud
Screams it shrieks are more than loud.
This one-eyed brute has no remorse;
like a top it spins its bloody course
Chewing turf giving demonic gloats
Panicked screams catch in our throats.
Trepidation begins frantic acceleration
The monster seems to pause in hesitation
Shifting as if new plaything's spotted
its victims on the landscape blotted.
It's abrupt in its leaving
Strange trail it is weaving
Rejoicing all who do survive
Thankful this thing left them alive.
