The Queen Who Wouldn't Give Him A Ship

A One-Year Celebration of Freedom~The Anniversary of His Release From Incarceration

In fourteen ninety-two,
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
In the year two-thousand three,
he found out that free wasn't
neccesarily free.

He discovered the land of milk and honey,
a land where women could be very cunning.
Equal rights to harass and call the police.
She said he called her, disturbed her peace.

She ,unrestrained by her restraining order and divorce,
felt alone and scared so called him to have intercourse.
Done with him, she did a federal judge, woman on a mission,
said, "Why stop there? I'll f*** the whole judicial system!"

She rode her high horse, the Santa Maria
to the police department, said he was too near.
Arrest him, she demanded, with a tear in her eye
so I can play uninhibited with Mr. Semper Fi.

Columbus Day Weekend, a four-day incarceration.
A beautiful way to celebrate discovery of our nation.
A big African man stole his sliver of soap,
while she grilled a steak and tried to cope.

His hipbones were bruised, his cavities filled in
as she agonized over what to tell his children.
My rights~she cried~to keep him away five-hundred feet
as a policeman with cuffs said, "just walking my beat!"

He called me collect from Peoria County Jail,
and I said, "Are you ok, cuz I have no money for bail?"
They played games on steel tables writing with soap,
and he kept that soap on a heavy thick rope.

He slept with one eye open for three days and nights,
the brothers liked his tattoos, kept him out of fights.
He said the meals were unedible, day after day.
When he was freed, we took him to Whistle Stop Cafe'!

This weekend, a year later, he sits in an easy chair,
watching football, cheering for the Bears...
He remembers his one year anniversary of freedom,
relieved that this year she's staying in her Queendom.

He stated innocent~no guilty~whatever...
but she called me 50 times "to the letter."
He did the right thing for his boys, let it go,
but everyone knows he's innocent,
and she's still eating crow.

Happy Columbus Day!
A Toast \_/  \_/  TO FREEDOM OF THE INNOCENT!
