( I write this in memory of Ray Charles, a Man with disadvantages that became his music, and his music became him.)
Melodies in The Dark
A light in the darkness
within the energy of day
Feet step on notes of guidance
in life's musical display.
Notes made of sunshine
upon a world of mud
Words dipped in Spring
that washes away the blood.
Each tale that speaks to millions
upon a voice of gold
Played on ivory keys
bringing love in from the cold.
Forty years of genius
sang upon a dream
Cherished in love and freedom
within an America's dream.
The greatness of the person
is written within his heart
To share his artistry will millions
till the day his soul departs.
What was given was gain
with smiles played across each face
To make one more happy
is a step for the Human Race.
