Defiant trees.

An army of yellow sways
Beyond a trickling brook
Await orders to march
Upon a line of trees.

Ancient messengers of the wind
Stand for those forsook
Relay the message of the land
To halt the yellow seas.

Here about last bastions
Defiant as they stand
Overlooking the fields
Where comrades fell.

Whispering the song
Of aforest once grand
Celebrating the memory
With blossoms sweet smell.
