Eyes Of Question

I've experienced everything,
and nothing at all
I've been everywhere
without leaving here,
yet I've been to places
no one can see

Before me were visions
of mountains too high to climb
and seas so deep I would drown
and I have climbed those mountains
and sailed those seas
in a time span of years

I've taken with me
no souvenirs
but knowledge
and the scars of yesterday
I've conquered the beast
of living and on I shall go

I sail smaller waters now
and climb only the steps of today
to reap the goodness of now
I wear my age with pride
behind spectacled eyes
of wisdom

I'm content in knowledge gained,
from experience of past,
and journey on, I shall
For, peace is found in time
when one closes
eyes of question
