HOMELESS DREAMI was a young man with only a dream but sometimes things ain't what they seem Foolishly chasing after a fantasy Closing my eyes refusing all reality I kept on holding on for I didn't know Now my eyes are open the sorrow shows Deep down I always wanted to be together Realizing now you never said"always and forever" Our spirits were at war for you didn't love me anymore It was time to retreat I had to run I grew weary from the damage that was done Next to me I held you but I let you go I lifted my head for it hung low Now my broken heart is mending and the love of my life is ending For you I'll always pray that one day to me you will say that you love me like I love you and you know now how my love was true Although our flame is no longer lit and we lie awake at night and cant forget why as the years went by we were so alone Because it was I who never really had a home But sometimes things ain't what they seem I was a young man with only a dream David Ritter Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
