A Lesson Taught By ChildrenDown the road in our small town an old man lived alone. Know one to share his time with all his family and friends were gone. A friendly man always a smile for anyone he met. But too many times a sad sad face while on his porch he set. We all waved and spoke to him every time that we passed by. Did we ever stop to visit Our lives too hurried to try. One day a call came saying what their doing is just great. I took two for myself those children are first rate. They found out the old mans birthday so they thought and planned. They turned into little artists each picture drawn by hand. Door to door they went and every picture sold. Everyone smiled and said those kids have hearts of gold. They took the time for this old man while the adults hurried on. They saw the emptiness and need one suffers when alone. With the money they had earned a lovely gift was sought. But what they truly shared that day was love that couldn't be bought. Thank God for the children so wise beyond their years. They taught us all a lesson we won't forget in coming years. The town gained a wonderous friend and know longer he felt alone. Inside the hearts of all of us he'll always have a home. by Debbie Rogers "c"2004 all rights reserved This is a true story about my middle daughter one of her cousins and a little friend. They drew and colored pictures and went door to door selling them to buy this old man a birthday present when they were in grade school. He became a friend of the entire town, after these kids taught the town a big lesson.Their story of kindness was put in the local newspaper.Thank God for Kids.
