Poetry Power!I used to be so shy you know! When I was just a lass! Wouldn't speak, would shy away, And sit at the back of the class! But then something happened, And I got very ill, I had to have an operation, Cos it wouldn't go away with a pill! So I started writing poems, And hung them up on the door! It made the other patients laugh! And that's what I wrote them for! I decided they were good, Cos I was often asked for a request, But the nurses couldn't take my pulse! For I was always asking; ‘who's next?' Then the nurses wanted them, And the doctors too! And you know, we even had them… Hanging in the loo! I had to stop writing them though, Because laughing caused such strife, All our temperatures shot right up! And the nurses threatened us with our life! But, it cheered us all up! And helped to get us well! And from then on, I carried on… And my poetry books did just swell! I have 4,000 poems, Give or take a few! And every day I write some more! Cos it's the best thing that I do! I know I'll never stop! And while my vocab does increase… I'll just keep churning them out! And my poems will never cease!
