"Home" For Christmas
Quietly, softly, Christmas music is playing,
the halls all gleam in institutional glare,
Caroler in the cafeteria ~~~ singing,
Just how much Christmas do I have to bear!
Silently, quietly, death pays a visit,
Too soon, I'm not ready to let you go!!
It's time for parties and bells should be ringing
Joyfully, not in Death's Solumn Toll.
Plans we have made, and never accomplished.
You have an aisle that you should walk down.
So proud of our daughter, you wanted to buy her,
Just one more dress, her Wedding Gown.
I"m not ready for this, I haven't the strength
To stand alone, and face what life has in store.
We've more songs to sing, more roads to travel,
More memories to cherish, for you I adore.
I'll Be Home For Christmas, is softly playing,
The words bring tears from the depths
of my soul.
For you look at me and you seem to be saying,
"If only in my dreams", for Heaven's my goal.
"Christmas Eve will find me,
Where the love-light gleems".
What is Christmas like in Heaven, Darling ???
As spectacular as it would seem???
Eighteen years of Christmases without you.
You are still in my heart every day.
I've lived, loved, laughed and cried,
beloved.
And sing Christmas songs, by the way.
Until I hear "I'll be Home for Christmas",
And I know, Dear, that is where you will be.
Singing "Glory to God in the Highest."
Heaven is your home now, and you're waiting for me.
