An Ordinary DayAs I go through my ordinary day, doing laundry, dishes, sipping my coffee, running errands... I think about you. I drive for five minutes and it shocks me how close I still am to home... five minutes is not very far and how close you and your family were when a bomb went off at the US Embassy in Jeddah. What did you hear? Did your house shake? Was the sky glowing an angry red shade of war? Were you scared or had you heard a bomb before? Did you wonder if the world was coming to an end... worry about your children who were away at school, your husband at work? Did a dish slip from your dainty hands? Did your little boy stop singing his ABCs and clutch your dress in fear? Did you cry unexplained tears when you heard what happened, knew your family was okay? What did you feel, dear soulsister? What would I do if a bomb went off right in the middle of an ordinary day? What did you? Lori Beal Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
