Poetic Verses

Pretense and Insincerity

Some boast about their righteousness
Which often seems an act
And if it is, they have to deal
With one unpleasant fact.

That others may not see them
The halos that they wear
While dabbling in pure gamesmanship
Pretending that they care.

And smugly puffing out their chests
With arrogance and pride
Convinced that others never see
The way they are inside.

Oh my, how that disgusts me
What lessons they do teach
Because they fail to see the need
To practice what they preach!

But righteousness is genuine
For which they should admit
That pretense and insincerity
Define a hypocrite.
