dog dreams
It is best not to wake my dog
while she is sleeping. Her dreams are
of lands, far away. I do not know exactly
what she dreams when she sleeps,
but her eyes twitch when she is dreaming,
and that is when I know she is there.
Sometimes she whimpers in her sleep,
and I know she is calling out my name.
That is what a whimper means in doggy
language, at least,
but I do not know what it means when
people whimper in their sleep.
Freud's conclusions do not suit me well,
he was a man who had many faces.
