The Pleasures Of The Sea

A rush of gasping(pleasured) breath escapes
As the waves wash up and me they overtake
Tickling my toes with a crash and a sigh
The grey-blue water, lapping at my inner-most thigh..

I pull up my hair
So my ears do not miss a sound..
A flower I've found
On the ground, red and fair..
I put into the curls upon my head
To add to the tropical paradise
That surely has brought this writer back from the dead..

I see the surfers that dare to brave these waves
Rolling along fighting against natures watery grave..
Yet at the same time, giving into it
Until they can stand proud and tall
Not seeming to mind that inevitable fall..

Oh, the many, many sights to see..

Almost drunken-like pleasure
As I bask in the blazing sun by the sea..

Gulls with their token cry, fly by
Stopping to say !hi!
As if to acknowledge me..
And then to say !goodbye!
As they lift off the gound and fly away

Really..
I have no words that describe my pleasure

Maybe I've died, and gone to a perfect heaven
Do not wake me, If I have..
Because, although as a child I left the sea..
One moment here..
And I know, it never left me.
