Way down below the surface,
in the deepest depths of the ocean
is a place of wonder and mystery
with things, inconceivable, in motion
Many miles past the darkness
that our technology can't penetrate
is whom some of us call, the Undines
with their own separate Destiny and Fate
You might know them better
as the Mermaids or Mermen. . . .
but I hear they've lived there so long,
We will never know their origin
Their home is not, as one may think
Far beyond that black void of abyss,
is an enchanted world, filled with neon
electrical light, as if touched by an eel's kiss
Lined with beautiful scales of rainbow colors,
Complete with a large fanned, silver tail
They play tag with the dolphins, and ride
on back of the, infamous, "White Whale"
Wearing jewelry fashioned from oyster pearls,
Carrying weapons made of swordfish spears
They have been residing, contently, in this
watery home, for all their many years
Sitting alone, upon a rock's ledge
Enjoying the ocean's spray, as you sit and stare
You just may, briefly, catch a glimpse
Of those flashing aqua eyes, and seagreen hair
Yet, few humans have ever seen them,
For they are a seldom and rare sight
Those who do still walk away pondering
if it were only tricks, of the Sun's light
