I write what I think and say what I please
many have died to give me this right
it doesn't matter how silly or trite
are my thoughts or what I say
I can choose the when and the way
can answer you quickly when you speak
or if I like I can think for a week
I can place each word with precise care
the very one that should to be there
the proper word can ease strife
cause a peace – save a life
make a friend
bring a love to its end
the proper word properly said
can bring my love to my bed
blood was paid for our right to say
what we want – don't throw it away
