Robbed of Innocence
A hated image,
seen through broken glass.
Fragments of her mirrored image,
remind her of her past.
She finds it painful,
as she looks through shards of glass.
Trying to find the beauty,
that was taken away real fast.
Each mirrored broken piece,
she puts it in it's place.
As if it were a puzzle,
revealing her broken face.
She sees the emptiness in her eyes,
What's this young girl to do.
She doesn't know how to deal,
with the pain that she went through.
Someone in her past,
took her innocence away.
Touching her inappropriately,
now her past haunts her to this day.
She can't stand the sight of herself,
she takes a razor blade.
She thinks that by cutting her wrists,
her pain will surely fade.
This cutting becomes a habit,
her wrists are sliced and scared.
Her heart feels shattered and broken,
her spirit has been marred.
If you know a person who cuts,
don't let their life come to an end.
Don't wait or ignore their problem,
seek help and be their friend.
Most cutters have been molested,
as the statistics say.
Out of the 2 million cutters,
half of them had their innocence taken away.
Kelley Marie Quinn
I saw a young girl who was a cutter on Oprah and statistics were given and I think this is very sad, so it inspired me to write about it.
