Life Dreams / Lucid Living (c) 2003

Out of Business

I'm
going out of business

closing out
the past,

typing up ends
of the loose-ends kind

shutting doors forever,
heavy padlocks hung in place,
cascading hollow echoes
back in time

Today I am
without
parental burdens --

they died

within me

empty spaces
awaiting the vacuum-rush
of nature's abhorence

Today I'm
re-creating my life,
setting up a
new scenario

this time with me
in the leading role

And today, new is
just as tossed
as old

as I devise
a new
newness --

unpredictable,
unforeseeable,
unexpected,
given the script so far

It's a twist,
a surpise ending,
a
cliff-hanger

needing

no explanation

providing certainty
that this time

the heroine
overcomes it all
& blazes forth
a winner

in the sequel
to my life
thus far
