And So She Said…

One day when we were chatting,
My friend May, said to me,
‘Would you like to come shopping…
And go out for a cup of tea?'
Well of course we did,
And we had a lovely day,
Until we went into a store,
And anger came my way!

Now May had bought a jacket,
And it needed to be exchanged,
Because this jacket was faulty,
And what happened next made me enraged!
When we got to the counter,
For a while we stood,
But the girl there just ignored us,
She had no manners, as she should!

I asked for her assistance,
And what did we do next,
But the next reaction from her-
Made me very vexed!
And so she said, not looking up,
But pointing her pen away…
‘You need to go over there!'
And that was all she'd say!

Well I was really irked by this,
And made a point and said to May,
‘This girl here is ignorant!'
Still she didn't look to us that day!
So I told the girl she had no manners!
And recounted this to May,
Then of course I got a reaction!
That girl made a mistake that day!

For when I said to May!
That this was so rude of her…
Right away, the girl finally looked up!
With attitude thick in the air!
We were using sign because May is deaf,
And you should have seen this girls face!
She went as red as red could be!
She certainly lost her grace!

I told her she was very ignorant,
To not look to people when she'd talk!
And told her she had no conception…
Unless she walked the walk!
As May and I stood there,
I told her she should apologise!
And of course she did…
As she looked May in the eyes!

She was out of order that day,
For she took for granted – true,
That everyone could hear her,
But no! She didn't have a clue!
May looked over to me,
And told me she was mad…
That the girl was so indifferent!
Because that was really bad!

I spoke to the girl for the last time,
Told her May would have been stood there,
And for how long, I don't know!
Because this girl didn't care!
Care enough to consider others,
Who have no hearing at all!
And look to people when she spoke!
Because one day this could be her call!

This could happen to her!
For who's to know or say!
That people in all walks of life,
Could become deaf one day, like May!
I don't think she will do that again,
For so ashamed was she!
And I told her in no uncertain terms,
That ashamed, yes, she should be!
