The Miracle of Life
I knew you were growing within me,
my body was going through a change.
When I felt a flutter within me,
it felt wonderful yet it felt strange.
But as your body was growing,
as you were getting longer.
I felt your movements all the time,
and I knew you were growing stronger.
I remember laying there holding my belly,
wondering when you would arrive.
Thankful to feel your every movement,
so happy that you were alive.
I remember wanting so much to hold you,
I wanted to see your precious face.
I wanted the miracle of life inside me,
to feel safe in my embrace.
For 9 months I waited,
I felt you move in me.
but the time had come for your arrival,
and I knew in a short time I'd see.
The blessing of life that was given,
is so very special to me.
I will try to be all that you'll ever need,
a good mother I will always try to be.
