Never Knew

Just yesterday when you came over I was surprised and happy to see you. My eyes wanted to feel up with tears because I knew what was coming next. Through your eyes as I sat beside you, I knew you didn't want to go.

We hugged for a while and kissed for a while and hugged and kissed again. Never once did we say "I love you" but our hearts told it all, our eyes said the words. At 1:00 pm you told me you have to leave, I thought I was gonna die.

You carried me to your mama's car as I gave her hug and as she told me everything was gonna be just fine. All I could do was cry.  My heart it ached and my life just disappeared into thin air. He carried me back to my porch, gave me a kiss and told me he would be alright. My eyes said you're lieing but my heart knew he was right.

He left as I stood standing on the porch, he too had tears in his eyes. I never knew this day would come when my world would crumble, when everything I've ever held onto or wanted or even needed would let me go but it has.

Now I wanna die but instead I think I'll just cry. Oh why does the pain hurt so bad? I thought I would be able to be strong but I was wrong. My head it hurts as the heartache just gets worse. Oh mercy, I never knew he would leave so suddenly.

I never knew my wings would be so brittle, I never knew my words would be speechless, I never knew I would feel this way but I have. I never knew my dreams would float away and I never knew all that I ever loved and hoped for would just leave me standing here alone.

I miss my baby and now I want him home. It's been 2 days since he's been gone. Why the Marines, I'll never know but it's the hardest one I've always heard of. May God keep him safe, may he wake up to see another day. I love you Charles Leroy Miller the 3rd. I never knew.
