Musings by The Poet Loriet

A Million Miles From Monday For Ten Minutes

I close my eyes
and go to my quiet place,
life's stresses washing away
from the cascading waterfall of my mind,
making me forget my 101 tricks
for hiding vegetables
so the kids will eat them.
Complete darkness
lit only
by one single, green
earthy candle,
filling the room.
Mysterious, intriguing shadows
flicker on the walls.
The warm bathwater...
flowing over me
like a mantra.
One moment in time.
Mine alone.
Calgon, take me away.
Just make sure I return
in time to cook the pork chops.
