Musings by The Poet Loriet

Perfect Girl

I am trapped
within my snow globe,
complete with plastic smile
and flawless rosy-cheeked glow--
Don't I look happy
skating upon thin ice?

When the glitter confetti
ceases to amuse you,
set me out of reach
atop the highest shelf
while other novelty toys
dance thru the grooves
of your
grey-doesn't-matter
brain.

I swim amongst perfect buildings,
peering in their windows,
searching for I-don't-know-what.

I am continually
wiping steady streams of
baby oil, water, and glitter
from my irritated eyes,
tapping inaudibly
upon my plastic shell.

Did you know that--
nobody can hear you
when you
scream
underwater?

Free-floating thru
colloidal suspensions,
I pray
noone will notice
I've come unglued--

No, they wouldn't--
I hide perfectly poised
beneath the perfect smile
in my perfect world--
the perfect girl.
