Precious Beat
I lay my head
Soft upon his chest
As in sweet repose
Eyes are closed to rest
Longing never to move
From this place so sweet
As I hear the beauty
Of his precious beat
A gift from heaven
This loves lullaby
As a crystalline tear
Does form in my eye
His breathing even
Contented and slow
These stolen moments
I do cherish so
Upon his face
My gaze is transfixed
Between wonder and love
Emotions are mixed
From lips so soft
A kiss could I take?
Featherlight I must
For fear he would wake
I wonder if he
Would smile at my way
Holding firm to him
Until night meets day
Never missing a note
To this melody sweet
Enraptured by this treasure
His precious beat
