A Choice for all Eternity

I remember a hallway, then a large door.
A whole lot of people, and a narrow red floor.
The walkway was long, the end just a blur.
This radiant beauty is you I am sure.
Wait!
Something is wrong and can't even be right!
From your perfect body emits a beautiful light.
What my eyes process is beyond all belief.
Yet, the encasing light brings some relief.
This awesome shaped figure, stopped on my right.
As she stopped, so did the light.
Completely in focus now, dress baby blue.
Something's not right here, this is not you!
In an instant I panicked screaming to see your face.
I was looking and looking but stuck in one place.
The amazing creature's light, again started to glow.
Could see everything but the face I'd wanted to show.
The light and the dress made me feel calm.
She spoke,"You hold your fate in your own palm."
I asked the woman kindly to show me my love.
She claimed to be an angel from the heavens above!
She said softly, "Marry me and witness perfection,
Or when your time comes you'll have no protection."
Let me think:
You want me to leave everything that constitutes pain?
To have an instantly perfect life with nothing to gain?!
To abandon my kids? I made these creations!
My responsibility with no alleviations!
You expect me to leave my loves without grief?
Tell me life with you to be a relief?
I replied:
"If angels are real and not in my head,
if you are not her, I'd rather be dead."
The voice and its presence has now gone away,
The light fading slowly, my emotions astray.
Lifting the veil, fearing what was within,
Does this mean life must end or begin?
The decision I've made runs through my mind.
Is it worth it to burn when I leave life behind?
I've made my decision, and now I must see.
Who is this woman staring at me?
I made up my mind right from the start,
‘cause it was never a choice, I followed my heart.
I look up from my sorrow and what do I see?
Other than you, staring at me.
Til death do us part….I do             By: scott
