A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, age 5, and
Ryan, age 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first
pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus
were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake.
I can wait.' Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you
be Jesus!"
I think it's safe to say that we're all a little bit like Kevin.
We want everyone else to act like Jesus. We want everyone else to be
kind and giving. We want everyone else to make the sacrifices and be
tolerant and forgiving of us.
Unfortunately, the only person I have control over is myself. And
it is only when I see God's Word as a guide for my life that it begins
to do me any good.
"For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps." (I Peter 2:21)
