First Day of School

By:  Samantha Fitzgerel

You look at the face peering back at you,
from the window of the big yellow bus.
He smiles and he waves and your shocked and amazed,
he got on it without a fuss.
You woke up this morning his first day of school,
with a feeling of sadness and dread.
But he didn't notice cause in his excitement,
he jumped up and down on the bed.
You bought pencils, crayons, and glue sticks galore,
and a back pack almost as big as he.
He'll have reading and writing and pictures to bring home,
so no space on your fridge will be free.
Enjoy these days, they'll go by to quickly and
soon again it'll be his first day of school,
as a teen so don't expect a hug or a wave,
cause by then Mom's just aren't cool!
