The Red-Neck Fairy Tale

By:  Samantha Fitzgerel

Her knight in tarnished Armour
his horse, a pick-up truck
no chain mail, just a flannel shirt
loosely tucked over his beer gut

He'll never slay a dragon,
but he's had to kick a dog
his sword, a trusty rifle
his shield, a rusty dodge

His feast consists of moon pies
and lots of fried baloney
at night when his lonely heart cries
he says "get on over hea' honey"

When the people drive by his castle
they sometimes stop and stare
he'll just go back into his trailer
and live his red-neck fairy tale
