The Reality Poet
The Bitter End
By: Samantha Fitzgerel
I know that you are going away
but I don't know what to say
I can see you shudder from the pain
and my tears, they fall like rain
I wasn't there when your life began
but I will witness your bitter end
The cancer will steal you away from me
I can see your strength is wearing thin
Hospice came to supply your needs
and it seems all you do now is sleep
We stand by your bedside to pray and sing
While we wait for death to deal its sting
I won't know what to do once you're gone
but I'll try to do what you've said
Grieve just for a while, and then let life go one
because were all appointed a time for death
