Ode to My Body

By:  Samantha Fitzgerel

Oh, to be young and thin again
when my tummy was tight and flat
before this wicked menopause began
when my thighs weren't attracted to fat

Why does gravity have to force this pull
why did time have to take such a toll
age on my body has been so cruel
my once slender waist, has now become rolls

Hot flashes now control my nights
one minute I'm hot, the next I'm not
this hotness I speak of, is not the celebrity type
my brain thinks I'm hot, but my body forgot

Oh, time go away and leave me alone
cellulite stay away from me bum
Dear boobs, please stay right where you belong
so my navel won't say, "where'd you come from?"

All you skinny women, please listen to me
I too was once your size
Gravity is coming for you too, you see
so exercise, or face the same demise
