My Voice

pride comes before the fall

pride comes before the fall

I'm sure you heard a purr,
or felt a low hum
maybe a sigh with
the slow swell of
deep throat undulation.

While searching
my eyes-
through your own
half moon lids

you may believe you saw

a white flag
a surrender
the undoing of me.

So, I should probably say
( just for the record)

that was your pride-
not mine

i just swallowed.
