According to His Will
We often do not get them
The things for which we pray
Then think that God ignores the words
Our hearts seek to convey.
Which makes us feel dejected
To think He will not hear
Our pleadings out of selfishness
That fall on deafest ear.
But maybe in His wisdom
God grants just what we need
Instead of vain and carnal things
More often born of greed.
Even so, we must be mindful
That God doth answer prayer
Because He gave His son, a gift
For which none can compare.
Therefore, if we expect them
Our pleadings to fulfill
Remember when God answers prayer
It's according to His will.
