Splinters

I don't mean to hurt you,
I'm a river, I'm burning, I'm useless
I leave you, your skin and your beauty,
I am tired of taking these chunks in between my teeth
but I don't want you to be
catching my splinters

I saw my name in your hand
you say you will love me as your wife
some days I just don't feel good enough
isn't it just like us
to run to and from....it only matters
if we meet in the middle
the rain will pour, the skies will clear
day in and day out a different outcome
but I don't wanna be suffocated
and you don't deserve to be less than happy
so let's make it our pact
we won't outweigh each other with splinters

We build this home
out of what we own
We hid our feelings sometimes deep in our heart
then we tear it all apart
plastering the pieces with glue and calling it art
your most favorite song is so sad
you wear blue, I wear black
in love, in war baby
we can run with Hemingway
we got the passion
now let's get rid of all the splinters.
