In My Classroom At Playtime
Alone in the classroom,
so centred,
so quiet,
the books and the papers
piled high on my desk!
Outside, constant echo,
from laughter at play,
they giggle in rhythm,
between
balls bouncing high!
My calmness is
shattered
from a knock on my door,
that pounds
on my being
and leaves me wound up!
What once
was so perfect,
is now out of place,
so I smile
at the nonsense
and try to be nice!
The bell rings
and echoes,
so I walk through
the door,
with an ache and a twisting
and a tight turning
knot!
Joy Weare.
