My World, My Words

One-Sided

Most people wanna have their cake and eat it too
Asking people to do things that we wouldn't normally do
Then whine and complain if they do come through
Because they didn't hold our expectations true
And we don't even stop to consider their situation
And that our intrusion might cause devastation
Or conflict with a previous time consideration
Because we are too worried with our own frustration
We try anything to steal a little time
By hitting them with the most guilt trip line
“If your busy then its fine
I just needed help with this problem of mine”
When you play the role of the helpless friend
They will feel too guilty if they don't give in
And give you a call as soon as they can
To become a means to your end
So after trying to get them to see the situation from our eyes
They give us advice that's profound and wise
But their advice we question and criticize
And soon their time we are trying to monopolize
Because we feel this isn't their best advice by any means
They are just trying to ditch us it seems
Trying to get back to the other things
They were doing before we came on our selfish scheme
And since that's all we can perceive
We cant appreciate the results they achieved
By being there in this time of need
And taking up this stressful deed
We don't see that they weren't our down and out call
But the only friend who would listen at all
Because no one else would have chosen to stand tall
The would have simply ignored out distress call
The only one who wasn't selfish enough
To help us out a spot so tough
And make their brain work so vigorous
To selflessly help us
We don't stop to think if the situation was switched
If it was them calling us when they were in a fix
And they needed our help really quick
How we wouldn't get into their mix
So we will be mad at our friend for coming through in a clutch
Being the shoulder to lean on without the touch
Too blind to see how they care about us so much
Knowing in our minds we wouldn't return the favor or such
Cause the friendship is not equally divided
We bear them our problems in hope they stride it
We emotionally leech off them and try to hide it
Because we are selfish and our friendship is one-sided
