LETTING GO

Thirteen and one-half hours
There's been none of his powers
To take me away
To the land of his play

It's then I remember and plot
To pay back when you had me caught
In no invitation for Thanksgiving
Shunned by you didn't want to be living

I lived anyway
Now it's a brand new day
The tables are turned
You have lessons to be learned

From your selffulness
Maybe you will cuss
There's no Christmas or New Year's
No bonding for no tears

No invitation extended
No pain comprehended
Leaving you out of most of my life
Causing me less strife

In this cold time we live
I ain't gonna give
An invitation to you
Doubt if you'll feel rejected as I do

However, I won't have to cry
When my family says where's my guy
And I can say uninvited
To show you how I felt slighted.
