Growing A Life
It's all so sudden how I find myself here
you tucked away in my womb
so afraid my shouting heart will wake you
I lie here admiring this gift
the one I don't deserve but somehow I found
and I thank fate for this moment
so I thank you for this night
and even what hasn't happened yet
I know the Lord will bless you with each breath
so continue to sleep my little one
maybe even somewhere you are dreaming
leave worry to the waking world
and know that I'm here to keep you safe
replaying these moments
every detail, every gentle kick
and as you make your way into this world
I am with you always
and I used to wish upon this one star
how I want to give you the stars
how I want to hold your little hand
and say baby you are home
baby you are home with mommy
