Why me?

You wake up at midnight,
can't go back to sleep,
want to share with me,
the secrets you keep,
sneak into my room,
and into my bed,
rap your arms around me,
kiss my forehead,
the stories you whisper,
are joyful to hear,
to have and to hold,
to know that you're near,
you tell me your wishes,
you tell me your plans,
I smile in response,
so you know I understand,
you slowly roll over,
and let out a sigh,
why you chose me,
I'll never know why.
