These ones I love
On this Day
Upon this day, we stand before the altar
Of God, pledging our troth one to the other.
As we join our lives in this blessed union
I reach down in to the depths of my heart
And find a bottomless urn of sweet love-
A love made complete by what we do here today.
There will never again be a day like today.
We have sacrificed "self" on the altar
Of matrimony, and are now "one" in our love.
Forever, will we cling to each other;
Treading softly lest we wound a heart-
Keeping safe always this sacred union.
For marriage is a holy union,
And as God smiles down on us today,
He will put a melody in our hearts.
Music that will one day float back to His altar.
A testimony that, for each, there will be no other-
A song that sings the story of great love.
We will live under the umbrella of God's love
Walking with Him each day in holy union-
Submitting ourselves to Him and to each other.
And we will tuck away the beauty of today
So if we are tempted away from the altar,
We shall find the strength to resist within our hearts.
On this day that we have chosen to link hearts,
We stand in amazement at the depth of our love.
And as we put our all upon the altar,
We make a promise to honor this union-
To build our tomorrows on today,
And to belong only to each other.
For in this life there could be no other-
There are none that can separate our hearts.
The path that we embark upon today
Will be trodden with the footprints of our love-
Shaded with the joys and tears of our union.
And in death, we will both lie upon the altar.
To each other, we have pledged our love,
Sealing within our hearts a perfect union,
And sanctifying 'today' on God's altar.
