Whippoorwill's Song
Sometimes an idea just takes
hold of my heart and I can't let it
go until the noise is quiet again.
This is the noise of the last few days.
Whippoorwill's Song
Whippoorwill's song floats softly through the branches
Of the willow, which seems to weep in rhyme,
The song reminds me so of days of splendor,
Too soon gone away, long before their time.
Yes, the haunting melody of youth now dying
Seems melancholy in whippoorwill's sad song.
For locked into my memory; where I will treasure,
These fleeting moments will last my whole life long.
Reach for the love the whippoorwill's song inspires,
Don't hide your light behind some forgotten dreams.
For with that love affirms to you the reason
For living life's supple, elusive schemes.
The whippoorwill's song speaks of love so purely,
A Love that is well worth fighting for,
And when Life ends, you will know most surely,
It was the Grace and Love of God as your reward.
