Fathomless depth of mystery lies
In this deep azure circle's hole
A certain attraction beckons all
Within this peaceful Sea of old
A crater made from fallen stars?
A meteor's silent grave 'tis told
None can tell what caused its shape
Curious men fear its hungry hold
A few who seek to know its truth
Never rise again to voice a blame
Below the silent water hides
The Prince of death's cruel claim
Stolen away are their living souls
In one last tortured draw of breath
A source not seen creeps and hide
In deep dark ledges on the side
Unseen hands tuck swimmers into bed
In the peaceful slumber of the dead

In the deep sea surrounding my country,
Belize,C.A. lies "The Blue Hole".
The Blue Hole is a wonder of nature, formed
15,000 years ago when an ice age exposed the
limestone beneath the reef and formed huge
subterranean caverns. After the ice age,
the rising water level forced the roof of
the cave to collapse, forming a sink hole
which plunges down 140 meters. Jacques
Cousteau first popularised this dive in
1970, and what has drawn his disciples here
ever since are the unusual features which cling
to an overhanging remnant of the old cave:
massive submarine stalactites, great columns of
rock formed before the ocean encroached.
Many tourists try to dive its depth,
but sadly a few met their untimely death.
A young man was found with his watch on his hand
still ticking days after he was reported missing.
